New member of the UK power market N2EX

Nord Pool Spot and NASDAQ OMX Commodities are pleased to announce Scottish Power Energy Management Limited as the latest member of N2EX, the new exchange for the UK power market. Scottish Power Energy Management Limited is now the 15th company to have joined the exchange since its launch on 12 January, 2010.

Scottish Power’s membership marks a significant milestone for the exchange, as all the “big 6” utilities now have joined N2EX,” says Geir Reigstad, senior vice president of NASDAQ OMX Commodities.

“We are pleased to welcome Scottish Power as the latest member on N2EX. Their arrival marks a pivotal point for the market as we work to establish greater liquidity on N2EX. Since N2EX launched a day-ahead auction and trading and clearing of prompt contracts, approximately 5 TWh has been traded on the exchange, with 4 TWh traded in the prompt market and 1 TWh traded in the day-ahead auction. 12 of the existing members are actively trading in the day-ahead auction and 11 are trading in the prompt.
